Responsibilities:
DECODING THE ROLE:
As an Associate Scientist II, In Vivo Discovery, you’ll be a vital contributor to our mission and our success. The Preclinical Discovery team at Editas is focused on developing novel gene editing strategies for in vivo gene editing programs and is looking to add a highly talented and motivated candidate to help develop delivery strategies for gene editing machinery into target cells in vivo. This individual will help the development of novel cellular targeting strategies and implement these technologies to treat therapeutic indications with significant unmet medical needs. In addition, they will provide molecular biology and cellular assay development support to Editas’ in vitro and in vivo pre-clinical studies. With a strong foundation in cellular and in vivo biology, this person will work within cross-functional teams including Advanced Technologies, Human Genetics and Genomics, Platform Technology, and Translational Science in development and commercialization of in vivo gene editing drug products.
TO THRIVE IN THIS ROLE, YOU’LL NEED:
- BS/MS in Biology or related discipline and 6+/4+ years of hands-on research experience in academic and/or pharmaceutical/biotech environment.
- Skilled in molecular assays including ddPCR, Jess capillary electrophoresis or traditional SDS-PAGE/western blotting, flow cytometry, and plate-based assays including ELISA. Demonstrated knowledge in assay development and optimization.
- Cell culture experience and experience with cell-based assays.
Fundamentals That Set You Apart
- Animal handling, dosing and tissue collection experience.
- Hepatocyte cell culture experience is a plus.
- iPSC generation and differentiation.
- Self-motivated, result-driven with excellent attention to details and ability to independently execute protocols to drive assignments to completion.
- Team oriented and excel in a fast-paced and dynamic team environment.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Well-organized and excellent at multi-tasking.
- Ability to form hypotheses, think critically, extract conclusions from datasets to inform future studies.
