Job Description:
We are seeking an entry-level scientist to work in our Inks & Coatings laboratory. Under direct supervision, you will work alongside experienced scientists designing and formulating both water and solvent based inks and coatings for printing applications (primarily for rotogravure and flexography). You will work in a safe 5S and ISO environment and utilize various computer programs, reporting your work through various forms of media.

Responsibilities:

  • Under supervision, formulate water and solvent-based inks and coatings dispersions.
  • Build proficiency in operating lab processing equipment – Mills, Dispersers, Mixers, Etc. as well as testing equipment for physicals (Solids, Density, Color, Tint strength, Etc.).
  • Understand the basics of formulation.
  • Excellent verbal and written skills with a desire to communicate with the customer.
  • Proficient in computer skills and common software.
  • Ability to work safely in a chemical environment.
  • Execute one main project, contributing to others while under the direction of supervisor.
  • Reports work in an organized manner to supervisor.
  • Curiosity and willingness to try alternative solutions/methods.
  • Participate in technical and non-technical teams. Willingness to accept help and reach out for assistance.
  • Offer creative suggestions to be reviewed by supervision for implementation.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in chemistry or related field required

Knowledge/Skills/Experience:

  • Laboratory experience in a chemical environment preferred.
  • Ability to work in teams and comfortable accepting direction.
  • Good Interpersonal and external and internal communication skills.
