Zoetis discovers, develops, and manufactures a diverse portfolio of animal health medicines, biopharmaceuticals and vaccines designed to meet the real-world needs of veterinarians and livestock farmers and companion animal owners they support. Zoetis has the first monoclonal antibody therapy for treating atopic dermatitis in dogs. We are currently seeking to fill new positions to support our growing biopharmaceutical and vaccine portfolio.
Zoetis Veterinary Medicine Research and Development (VMRD), Cambridge, UK is seeking a talented and experienced Associate Scientist or Senior Associate Scientist to assist in the production, purification, and quantitation of proteins. The role is primarily focused on the cell culture and high throughput side of mAb production.
Core responsibilites

Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Plasmid production and verification.
  • Maintenance of cell bank and non-adherent cell lines for transfection.
  • Transfection of cells to produce up to several hundreds of antibody candidates.
  • Transfection of cells to produce tool proteins.
  • Purification, quantification, and normalisation of antibodies.
  • Accurate record keeping for all samples and cell lines.
  • Maintenance of an accurate electronic notebook in a timely manner.

  • Confidence in handling multi-channel equipment and multi well plate formats.

Desirable

  • Proven ability to design, clone, produce and QC plasmids.
  • Working knowledge of flask and plate-based protein production.
  • Quantification of antibodies by SPR.
  • Manual high throughput antibody purification.
  • Experience with liquid handling robotics.
  • Solid knowledge of cellular/molecular biology.
