Associate Software Engineer (Frontend)

WHAT YOU WILL NEED

• A good level of technical understanding in JavaScript, React and CSS.
• Good knowledge and understanding of Agile working methodologies, values, and procedures
• Knowledge of frameworks, tools and languages surrounding the RAC technology ecosystem
• Knowledge of industry standard patterns on great engineering practice, such as event driven design, service to service communication, redux pattern and component reusability
• The ability to comprehend more complicated technical issues, yet highlight to the team where extra help is required
• Have a high degree of attention to detail, showing care about the quality of work that’s being produced
  The successful candidate will be able to communicate at all levels, whilst having the ability to work on their own initiative and with light supervision. You will be “self-motivated”, proactive in your approach and willing to expand your skillset.

ABOUT THE ROLE

RAC have an exciting new opportunity for an Associate Software Engineer (Frontend) to join our Digital Breakdown Team.
You will be integral to the customer experience within individual product teams helping to resolve real world problems. As a creative you will be efficient in proposing solutions to customer problems alongside a team of Software Engineers.
Your role will be to build functionality for our customers, and you will play a key part in the wider RAC technology design community, using required technologies such as JavaScript and React. Our technology supports our patrols to attend 2.3m call-outs each year.
This role is hybrid working hours which can be discussed in more detail.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

• Be proactive with seeking out alternative processes or functionality that would improve the RAC’s services/customer experience.
• Help to ensure technologies are appropriate and relevant to RAC business needs.
• Provide operational support and advice for digital to Service Management.
• Write code in required technologies (including) JavaScript & React, alongside proficiency with the Azure Cloud Environment and Kubernetes.
• Monitoring the technical performance of various services / frontends deployed to Azure.
• Pair program with other mid/senior software engineers to learn more and help contribute to more complicated features.
• Perform troubleshooting of operational and integration issues.
