Responsibilities:

MAIN PURPOSE OF THE ROLE:

Léman Manhattan Preparatory School seeks an Associate teacher for the 2024-2025 school year. The ideal candidate has an excellent understanding of child development and the standards for the grade across all subject areas.
Promotes and nurtures the education of students by planning and tailoring courses of study. Creates a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate to the physical, social and emotional development of students. Keeps parents informed of student progress and potential concerns.

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

  • Assists in the implementation of daily lesson plans under the direction of the Head Teacher
  • Facilitates small group instruction as directed by teacher, in learning centers and small groups
  • Works with individual students to support objectives outlined in Personal Learning Plans
  • Assists in planning and preparing the learning environment, setting up interest (learning) centers and preparing needed materials and supplies.
  • Supervises the classroom when the teacher is out of the room.
  • Helps with general housekeeping and record keeping tasks
  • Presents a positive role model for students that supports the mission of the school; demonstrates behavior that is professional, ethical, and responsible. (Inside and outside of school)
  • Attends all required staff meetings and recommended training programs and conferences
  • Provides student support services by monitoring halls, study periods, playground and lunchroom.
  • Assists teacher in management of student behavior in the classroom using Responsive Classroom
  • Assists teacher in maintaining safe, secure, and healthy educational environment by following and enforcing standards and procedures and complying with school, and legal regulations.
  • Assists teacher with administering, monitoring and evaluating student work
  • Chaperones all field trips, class performances and events
  • Communicates in a positive, professional manner with parents at all times
  • Demonstrates flexibility and a positive attitude toward new challenges and growth opportunities.
  • Participates in school wide events
  • Assists the teacher with other duties, as assigned.
