Job Description
The Director of Urban Development will provide executive leadership and strategic direction for urban design and infrastructure projects. In this role, you will oversee the planning, design, and execution of large-scale urban development projects, ensuring they align with the firm’s vision and industry standards. You will manage multidisciplinary teams, foster client relationships, and ensure that urban projects meet regulatory requirements, budget constraints, and sustainability goals. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in urban planning, leadership in infrastructure projects, and a focus on delivering innovative urban environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and direct urban development projects, setting the strategic vision and ensuring alignment with the company’s goals and client expectations.
- Oversee the design and execution of complex urban projects, including transportation networks, public spaces, mixed-use developments, and utilities, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within scope, and on budget.
- Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including clients, public agencies, and communities, ensuring their needs and expectations are met or exceeded.
- Lead, mentor, and build a team of urban designers, architects, engineers, and planners, fostering collaboration and innovation across projects.
- Lead the development of large-scale master plans, setting a vision for long-term urban growth and infrastructure integration.
- Ensure all projects comply with local, regional, and national planning regulations, zoning laws, and environmental standards.
- Develop and oversee project budgets, ensuring cost control, financial efficiency, and alignment with company profitability goals.
- Identify and mitigate risks associated with large-scale urban projects while seeking opportunities to enhance project delivery and profitability.
- Serve as the primary representative of the company in meetings with public agencies, stakeholders, and community groups, ensuring clear communication and a unified project vision.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in urban planning or a related field.
- Minimum of 12 years of experience in urban development or infrastructure project management
- Demonstrated leadership experience in managing multidisciplinary teams on complex urban development projects.
- Strong understanding of urban planning, infrastructure design, and sustainable development practices.
- Exceptional communication skills with the ability to present ideas, negotiate contracts, and manage high-level client relationships.
- Deep understanding of urban development regulations, zoning laws, and environmental policies.
