Description:

SUMMARY

The Associate Vice President for Finance will manage a team of professionals that support the following key functions of the College - general accounting, budgeting, forecasting, treasury management, debt management, property management, payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable (student accounts) and purchasing. The AVP will also be a College leader who works collaboratively with individuals from across the College and strives to provide exemplary support and service.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • A bachelor’s degree in business, finance, accounting, or a related field is required.
  • A minimum of 7 years of progressive financial management experience is required.
  • Experience preparing GAAP financial statements and working with external auditors is required.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with people at all levels of an organization.
  • Higher education experience is strongly preferred.
  • A master’s degree in business, finance, accounting, or a related field is preferred.
  • A CPA license is preferred.

Responsibilities:

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Directly responsible for the oversight of the primary Business Office functions, including but not limited to general accounting, budgeting, forecasting, treasury management, debt management, property management, payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable (student accounts) and purchasing.
  • Quarterly and annual financial statement preparation and financial reporting including general ledger maintenance, monthly reconciliations and preparation and review of journal entries.
  • Responsible for the operating budget development process, forecasts, controls, and the training program.
  • Ensure that clear Business Office policies and procedures are maintained, communicated and monitored.
  • Analyze ongoing business practices and recommend actions to improve operational efficiencies and reduce costs.
  • Responsible for the planning and preparation of the annual financial statement audit, the IRS Forms 990 and other tax documents, the S&P Global Ratings credit rating review, various financial surveys, etc.
  • Maintenance and oversight of operating cash and endowment investments accounts, including the preparation of monthly operating cashflow projections and the responsibility over the Fundriver Endowment application.
  • Collaborate with Development and Alumni Engagement and the Office of Financial Aid as needed to ensure that endowed scholarships and restricted gifts are properly recorded, awarded and reported.
  • Provide comprehensive detailed analyses of operating and financial results, including annual benchmarking of financial statements and IRS Form 990s, annual program portfolio cost review, and similar work as assigned.
  • Assist the VP for Business and Finance/CFO with supporting the Board of Trustees and various Board Committees, including but not limited to Financial Stewardship, Audit and Risk Management, and Property.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the VP/CFO.
