POSITION SUMMARY:

This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit, charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. The Association Membership Director at the Arlington-Mansfield Area YMCA is responsible for the AMA YMCA’s membership strategies that lead to increased sales and retention for the association, as well as to community recognition as a leader in our industry.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred.
  • YMCA Multi-Team Leader certification preferred.
  • Previous supervisory experience in customer service preferred.
  • Ability to think strategically and communicate strategies with directors and senior leadership.
  • Possess skills in organization, attention to detail, communication, customer relations, motivating staff/volunteers, managing multiple priorities.
  • Ability to analyze and solve problems and demonstrate assertiveness to manage the scope and diversity of responsibilities.
  • Excellent personal computer skills and experience with standard business software.
  • Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
  • CPR/AED/O2/First Aid certifications and Child Abuses Prevention, Understanding Your Biases, Anti-Harassment, Blood Borne Pathogens, Hazard Communication Awareness, and Slips, Trips, and Falls trainings required within 30 days of hire.

Responsibilities:

  • Serves as the expert for membership to all AMA YMCA branches, staying abreast of marketing trends and innovation in the industry. Leads association membership cabinet.
  • In collaboration with each branches’ Membership Director, creates and implements membership sales, retention, and quality control measurement strategies and tools for the association.
  • Analyzes data and evaluates the effectiveness of sales, customer service, methods, costs, and results to inform further strategy development.
  • Develops and implements a comprehensive strategy to meet all association sales, recruitment, and retention goals, minimizing terminations. Works with Executive Directors and branch teams to communicate all membership campaigns and events.
  • Develops a robust corporate membership strategy and leads the association in implementing a corporate membership program that will produce membership growth and impact in the business communities we serve.
  • Oversees and supervises the association’s call center.
  • Responsible for overseeing the development, implementation, and ongoing front-facing support of the Y’s online services including online registration, membership purchasing, and point of sale transactions.
  • Provides support to initiatives to increase membership from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds.
  • Ensures staff in our association is utilizing the membership software and other tools and are meeting association standards.
  • In conjunction with Executive Directors, responsible for the success of the membership compliance audits.
  • Serves as Membership Director for the North YMCA and adheres to all essential functions of a branch Membership Director.
  • Functions as the primary point of contact with the Association Marketing Director.
