The Opportunity:
Operations:
- Department Organization & Planning: Design and maintain a flexible and scalable department organization chart. Develop, execute, monitor, and regularly update the departmental business plan.
- Productivity & Efficiency: Track and enhance key departmental productivity metrics. Optimize department process flow for better efficiency, customer service, and cost control.
Customer:
- Vendor Relationships: Build and maintain strong relationships with vendors, including airlines and trucking companies. Evaluate vendors periodically and implement corrective action plans for improvement.
- Business Development: Collaborate with the sales department to actively develop business and ensure customer retention. Provide competitive pricing alternatives, routing solutions, and technical assistance to clients. Facilitate the transition of new business and updates to existing business.
Compliance:
- Regulatory Adherence: Foster a climate of compliance with internal policies, external regulations, and customer requirements. Promote compliance with company policies and regulations, acting as a role model of integrity. Communicate policies and regulations effectively to ensure team awareness and understanding.
System:
- Process & System Improvement: Embrace and implement new system changes and enhancements within the department. Suggest and participate in system and process improvements. Document and regularly update customer standard operating procedures. Establish and maintain a positive and proactive departmental environment.
What you will need to succeed:
- Experience & Knowledge: Minimum 5 years in an airfreight supervisory or management role with strong understanding of air cargo documentation, procedures, and regulations. Experience with Cargo wise is preferred.
- Leadership & Background: Proven leadership attitude and a strong background in managing teams effectively. Completion of the IATA/FIATA Introductory Course is preferred.
- Market & Product Insight: Deep knowledge of market trends and airfreight products, combined with excellent customer service skills in both written and verbal English.
- Communication & Interpersonal Skills: Strong interpersonal abilities, including active listening, clear and concise communication, and the ability to achieve positive results.
- Negotiation & Process Development: Demonstrated negotiation skills and the ability to define, develop, and document business processes and procedures.
- Technical Proficiency: Good computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word.
