Job Description

NHS Salary Band: Band 2
Salary: £17,906 per annum
Work Location: Queen Alexandra Hospital, Cosham
Hours per week: Part time, 30 hours per week

We are seeking an enthusiastic, motivated, and flexible individual to fill our 12 month Audio Typist maternity cover. We are a dedicated team who pride ourselves in providing an excellent standard of care to our patients and supporting our wonderful clinical staff. We are a busy, forward-thinking department where teamwork is paramount and good customer care essential.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Audio type correspondence, urgent clinic letters, manage and update excel spreadsheets according to Trust and departmental protocols.
  • Transcribe dictation to agreed deadlines as required.
  • Filing hard and soft copies of all documentation.
  • Distribute completed letters.
  • Record nurse biologic attendance and discharges on PAS in a timely manner
  • Track and outcome nurse letters on database, re issue where required.
  • Communicate with other healthcare providers.
  • Provide secretarial typing cover during colleague’s absence.
  • Track notes on the PAS system and act on any requests, distributing as required and ensuring they are received and stored correctly within the Department.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Educated – GSCE / ‘O’ Level Standard or equivalent (including English Language

Desirable

  • RSA II/III Typing and/or Audio Typing or equivalent.
  • Experience of working in a healthcare office environment
  • Knowledge of PAS, PMI, OPD, Pathology, Radiology
  • Computer literacy and keyboard skills
  • Literacy and numeracy

EXPERIENCE

Essential

  • Previous experience of providing clerical support in a busy and challenging environment

Desirable

  • 1 Year audio typing experience

SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE

Essential

  • Ability to achieve high levels of accuracy ensuring deadlines are met.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and organisational skill.
  • Ability to transcribe tapes accurately.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Able to deal/liaise with staff at all levels.
