Description :
Reporting to the Coordinator of Infrastructure & Security, the Audio-Visual Support Services Technician is responsible for the coordination of the work and delivery of services related to audio-visual and media technology within the College. The technician assists in the planning and delivery of audio-visual services in the College and the rental of audio-visual facilities and services to internal and external clients. The technician is also responsible for the programming of the Crestron systems in the college.
More specifically, but not limited to, the Audio-Visual Support Services Technician:
Audio-visual equipment and technology:
- Installs and maintains equipment and technology in all College facilities;
- Monitors, proposes and installs audio-visual solutions based on the technological and educational needs of the College departments and programs;
- Collaborates with the College Computer HelpDesk staff to ensure the performance of computer equipment and network services in areas with audio-visual installations;
- Monitors and maximizes the effectiveness of the overall deployment of equipment related to audio-visual and media resources;
- Coordinates, repairs and maintains services for audio-visual equipment in the College facilities;
- Provides technical assistance to faculty, staff and students in use of audio-visual and media equipment and facilities;
- Compiles and maintains inventories of audio-visual equipment for preventive maintenance program;
- Keeps informed of developments in this area and makes recommendations for anticipated future requirements;
- Facilitates the use of audio-visual, educational, and videoconferencing technology for internal and external users;
- Organizes the recycling of equipment according to the Vanier College Sustainability Policy;
- Documents and keeps track of technical procedures and systems;
- Maintains the physical facilities in good working order: cleans equipment and workstations, returns viewing rooms to a ready state for patrons of the area;
Rentals:
- Oversees the rental and installation of specialized equipment, when required;
- Informs potential customers of rental terms and conditions in accordance with College policies;
- Schedules use of facilities based on College priorities and procedures in place;
- Arranges for the collection of entrance and rentals fees;
- Recommends and schedules casual employees needed for events in audio-visual facilities;
- Oversees the recording and audio balancing for the music department performances and rentals;
- Liaises with Security and other College departments to ensure proper maintenance of facilities;
- Oversees the upkeep of the inventory and ensures information and technical documentation on services and procedures are updated and accessible to the College Community.
Other related tasks which fall within the scope of the classification of this position may be assigned.
Schedule: Monday to Friday, 10:00 am to 6:00 pm (35 hours/week)
Contract: Until January 30, 2026, or until the return of the incumbent to their position.

Requirements :
Qualifications:
- Diploma of College Studies (DEC) in Multimedia Integration or other appropriate specialty, or a diploma or attestation of studies recognized as equivalent.
Conditions related to the specific position:
- Experience using, installing and troubleshooting with audio-visual and media technology, including:
o Sound, lighting and management of stage equipment;
o Multi-media equipment (smart boards, projectors, etc.);
o Planning for purchase, configuration, installation and maintenance of equipment;
- Demonstrated experience with programming cue-based consoles and DMX-controlled lighting equipment;
- Experience programming with SIMPL windows or similar Control System Programming Software;
- Proven ability to program Crestron Digital Media and Toolbox or similar systems (to be tested);
- Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Excel (to be tested);
- Basic Knowledge of Word (to be tested);
- Strong English and French oral and written communication skills (to be tested);
- Strong customer service orientation and ability to foster positive work relationships;
- Ability to collaborate with others in troubleshooting and solving audio-visual and media-related problems;
- Ability to plan and coordinate activities and use of College Facilities with internal and external clients.
