Salary: $3,121.91 to $4,113.79 bi-weekly. ($81,481 to $107,369 annually)
The Office of the Controller is responsible for government accounting policies and financial reporting, financial management and control policies, risk management (financial and audit risk) and financial business process management. The division is a leader in sponsoring, supporting and facilitating initiatives with outcomes focused on effectiveness, efficiency, best practice and continual improvement by the government financial community

QUALIFICATIONS

CMA, CGA, CA or CPA designation plus at least three years of audit experience including management of staff; or equivalent as described below.
Equivalency: An equivalent combination of education and experience provided the candidate is enrolled and actively pursuing a recognized accounting or auditing designation such as CPA or CIA.

The ideal candidate will have the following assets:

  • A working knowledge of Alberta’s public sector environment and operational experience within government departments.
  • Expertise in audit software, data analysis tools, and strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • The ability to foster positive working relationships with senior client staff and an understanding of cross-governmental operations.
  • Experience in risk management, internal controls, and governance frameworks.

Responsibilities:

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

As an Audit Supervisor, you will lead audit projects and provide direction to team members, ensuring that projects are conducted in accordance with professional standards and CIAS policies. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Conducting audits and offering leadership for a portfolio of departments to improve operational effectiveness.
  • Based on analysis, proposing audit focus, scope, and methodology to ensure audit objectives are met efficiently.
  • Managing project deadlines and budgets, coordinating with Directors to align with CIAS objectives.
  • Building and maintaining positive relationships with senior department staff to ensure smooth execution of audit projects and effective communication of audit findings.
  • Drafting recommendations that address root causes of identified issues and ensuring practical, balanced audit reports.
  • Fostering a positive work environment by supporting staff development, offering timely feedback, and promoting work-life balance.
  • Contributing to the continuous improvement of audit practices by sharing best practices and participating in post-audit reviews.
