The Role
Provides technical leadership and execution of on time manufacturing automated system installation and improvement projects. Defines, drives, and maintains process equipment systems and programming using best practices. Resolves software controls system issues. Leads continuous improvement programs, including OEE improvements, to support the Ortho business plan, goals and objectives. Maintains total compliance with all company quality, safety, and regulatory procedures and expectations.
This role will be located onsite in Pompano Beach, FL.

The Responsibilities

  • Defines, installs, validates, maintains, and troubleshoots software applications in combination with applicable hardware using an acute understanding of the interaction between the software application modules and other software and hardware packages such as Allen Bradley/Rockwell, Beckhoff, RSlogix & Factory talk, Siemens, Staubli robotics, PRoface, B&R Automation studio. Interrogates software packages such as MSSQL, RSSQL, INSQL, Intouch-Wonderware SCADA, Delphi, Bosch Rexroth HNC. Accurately identifies root cause of system faults and leads and delivers a robust and timely resolution to deliver hard disk capacity management and server reboot requirements.
  • Working with manufacturing line operators and mechanics, implement a value added OEE program, maintain equipment availability and uptime targets, and ensure process related waste is minimized at all times.
  • Provide manufacturing line operational support for all aspects of manufacturing equipment. Conduct root cause investigations, change control documentation, and validations to meet standards and business goals.
  • Review, evaluate, leverage, and adapt new, compliant technologies for the benefit of the business.

The Individual

Required

  • Bachelor Degree in Engineering discipline with 2-5 years software programming experience
  • Structured Software Design Review
  • Rockwell Automation suite - Allen Bradley PLC’s & RS Logix, Factorytalk highly desired
  • Documentation / Technical report writing skills
  • Good communication skills
  • Structured Project Management capabilities
  • Travel less than 5%

Work Environment:
The work environment characteristics are representative of an office, laboratory and manufacturing environment. Flexible work hours to meet project deadlines. May work with hazardous materials.
Physical Demands:
Position requires ability to lift up to 30 lbs., work within restricted areas confined by equipment. Up to 50% of time/work within a low humidity environment with potential exposure to biological, toxic and corrosive reagents; and up to 50% is required to work within the confinements of a cubical style office, and also within a laboratory setting. Walking, standing and sitting for longs periods of time are routine to accomplish tasks in this role. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close and distance vision and the ability to adjust focus. Must be willing to work 1st or 2nd shift. Position requires use of Personal Protective Equipment as posted.
Salary Transparency:
The salary range for this position takes into account a wide range of factors including education, experience, knowledge, skills, geography, and abilities of the candidate, in addition to internal equity and alignment with market data. At QuidelOrtho, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. The salary range for this position is $68,000 - $116,000. QuidelOrtho offers a comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, vision, life, and disability insurance, along with a 401(k) plan, employee assistance program, Employee Stock Purchase Plan, paid time off (including sick time), and paid Holidays. All benefits are non-contractual, and QuidelOrtho may amend, terminate, or enhance the benefits provided, as it deems appropriate.
