GTW Johnstown is hiring a new Automation Supervisor!
The Automation Supervisor is responsible to supervise all operational activities in GTW’s automated systems at the Johnstown Distribution Centre, ensuring all key performance targets are met or exceeded, and resulting in a safe and engaging working environment with minimal operational disruptions and on-time store deliveries.
Accountabilities:
- Train, motivate and monitor team performance, deliver monthly progress reports and feedback to Ops managers. Develops Team Leader proficiency and delegates appropriately. Promotes a positive, goal-focused culture through on-floor presence, in-depth department knowledge, and daily team meetings. Stays aligned with business objectives with peers and management. Adjusts labour according to business needs. Always looking to reduce controllable consumable expenses.
- Monitor system performance, ensure team responds quickly to problems and or failures. Ensure all KPI targets are met or exceeded for the department.
- Respects work hours, breaks, lunches and demonstrates good attendance. Maintains a courteous demeanor and etiquette. Manages conflict and competing demands effectively. Prioritizes organizational goals and leverages department capacities to contribute to overall building performance.
- Enforces and complies with all GTW and equipment manufacturer’s health and safety policies and procedures. Coordinates and creates, with H&S team, on safety procedures and training for all existing and new equipment that the automation team interacts with.
- Maintain knowledge and familiarity with department specific functionality. Support personal development goals such as cross-functional training, advanced conceptual learning, contribution to improvement of procedures and policies.
- Interviews candidates and coordinates with HR in the onboarding of new associates. Complete all WorkDay/Kronos actions such as daily time tracking, payroll sign off, vacation requests, sick leave, job requisitions etc.
Knowledge and Skills:
- Post Secondary education, preferably in logistics, engineering, warehousing, operations or relevant on the job experience
- 3-5 years of experience in a warehouse or similar environment
- 2+ years directly or indirectly leading a team of hourly employees
- Self-motivated and disciplined team player
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Sound organizational skills
- Ability to creatively solve problems in a fast-paced environment
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite
Schedule:
- 12 hour shifts
- 2 week rotation between day and night shifts
Sample shift schedule:
- Week 1 – 6:30am to 7:00pm – Monday, Tuesday, Friday, Saturday
- Week 2 – 6:30am to 7:00pm – Sunday, Wednesday, Thursday
- Week 3 – 6:30pm to 7:00am – Monday, Tuesday, Friday, Saturday
- Week 4 – 6:30pm to 7:00am – Sunday, Wednesday, Thursday
