Description:

Automotive Service Manager needed for busy import dealership in the Burlington, VT area. This is with a well-established family-owned dealership. The successful candidate is a proven Service Manager that is hands on and looking for a long-term opportunity where they can continue to grow. The Service Manager will not be micromanaged and will have the ability to make changes as they see fit to better the department. This position reports directly to the Dealer Principal. The dealer is looking for a Service Director that has experience running a process driven service department and has a proven track record of maintaining excellent CSI. Moreover, they are looking for a Service Manager with a great attitude that sees the big picture and actively strives to grow the department. The Service Department is functioning fine but there is further room to grow the department for a motivated director who strives for growth and streamlines processes. It is important that the Service Manager hired is highly organized and pays close attention to detail so that the little things do not slip through the cracks. It is very important that the Service Director hired conducts themselves in a professional manner and represents the dealership well. This is a great opportunity for a strong Service Director looking for a home with a leading family owned dealer group.

Responsibilities:

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of the service department
  • Create and implement processes to increase efficiency, customer satisfaction, and profitability in the service department.
  • Set a clear vision for the Service Department to achieve targeted performance goals.
  • Ensure high customer satisfaction by addressing needs and complaints promptly.
  • Maintain strong Customer Satisfaction Index (CSI) scores.
  • Hire, train, and develop service department staff.
  • Provide training to service technicians to help them improve their skills and knowledge.
  • Conduct performance evaluations and provide coaching to improve team performance.
  • Foster a positive and productive work environment.
  • Develop and implement standard operating procedures for consistency and quality.
  • Monitor and improve service processes for enhanced efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Ensure all repairs and maintenance meet manufacturer specifications and dealership standards.
  • Prepare and manage the service department budget.
  • Monitor financial performance, including revenue, expenses, and profitability.
  • Coordinate with the parts department for timely availability of parts.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with customers to foster loyalty and repeat business.
  • Handle customer disputes and negotiate solutions to ensure satisfaction.
  • Generate and analyze reports on service department performance, including productivity, efficiency, and financial metrics.
  • Communicate department performance and issues to dealership management.
  • Participate in management meetings and contribute to dealership strategy and decision-making.
  • Promote service specials and upsell additional services to increase revenue.
  • Collaborate with the sales department to support service-related promotions and events.
  • Stay updated on manufacturer guidelines and training requirements.
