Job Title: Automotive Spray Painter/Colour Technician
Job Location: Nelson, New Zealand

Employment Type: Permanent, Full-time
Days Required: Monday to Friday
Hours per Week: 40 hours
7:30am to 4:30pm
Hourly Rate: $30 to $35 per hour (depending on experience)
Job Description:

We are seeking an experienced Automotive Spray Painter/Colour Technician to join our growing team at Automotive Colours in Nelson. The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Examining and cleaning bodywork, determining scope of work
  • Preparing the surface including cleaning, buffing, polishing, priming and masking.
  • Spray painting new and used vehicles and car parts.
  • Colour matching to meet manufacturers’ specifications.
  • Buffing and polishing the surface between coats.
  • When spray painting and colour matching is quiet then help in the paint warehouse
  • Completing records of materials used.
  • Maintaining cleanliness and organisation of the tint room.
  • Training others in colour matching as needed.
  • Ensuring all spray equipment is kept and maintained to a high standard.
  • Adhering to all company health and safety protocols.

Job Prerequisites:

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in automotive spray painting and colour matching.
  • Experience working with both light and heavy vehicles.
  • Ability to colour match by eye with a high level of precision.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
  • Be physically able, you may have to lift heavy equipment, stand a lot and bend/stretch in awkward positions.
  • Be comfortable wearing personal safety equipment such as a facemask.
  • Be comfortable working in a workshop which can be dirty, noisy and have strong paint fumes (ventilated).
