Job Title: Automotive Spray Painter/Colour Technician
Job Location: Nelson, New Zealand

Number of Positions: 1
Employment Type: Permanent, Full-time
Days Required: Monday to Friday
Hours per Week: 40 hours
7:30am to 4:30pm
Hourly Rate: $30 to $35 per hour (depending on experience)
Job Description:
We are seeking an experienced Automotive Spray Painter/Colour Technician to join our growing team at Automotive Colours in Nelson. The successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Examining and cleaning bodywork, determining scope of work
- Preparing the surface including cleaning, buffing, polishing, priming and masking.
- Spray painting new and used vehicles and car parts.
- Colour matching to meet manufacturers’ specifications.
- Buffing and polishing the surface between coats.
- When spray painting and colour matching is quiet then help in the paint warehouse
- Completing records of materials used.
- Maintaining cleanliness and organisation of the tint room.
- Training others in colour matching as needed.
- Ensuring all spray equipment is kept and maintained to a high standard.
- Adhering to all company health and safety protocols.
Job Prerequisites:
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in automotive spray painting and colour matching.
- Experience working with both light and heavy vehicles.
- Ability to colour match by eye with a high level of precision.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Be physically able, you may have to lift heavy equipment, stand a lot and bend/stretch in awkward positions.
- Be comfortable wearing personal safety equipment such as a facemask.
- Be comfortable working in a workshop which can be dirty, noisy and have strong paint fumes (ventilated).
