JOB DESCRIPTION:

Reporting to the VP, Head of Product Control. The AVP Product Control- Head of Valuations is accountable for ensuring accurate and timely reporting, controls, and governance for valuations at TD Securities. This role will liaise with Front Office, Information Technology, Risk, Finance and other control functions and key stakeholders. As well be a key advisor to the front-office, Risk, Finance, and other key stakeholders providing insight and analysis on TDS and the Bank’s fair value results. Specific activities would include the following:

  • Lead, coach and develop a high performing team of product control professionals
  • Oversee the execution of controls and governance supporting the independent price valuation (IPV) and valuation adjustments (VA) processes for TDS
  • Ensure the Bank’s fair value reporting and Financial fair value disclosure are following various Valuation Policies
  • Lead the team to explain IPV variance VA results with succinct commentaries in reference to business pricing, model understanding, data issues and external market factors
  • Inform senior management and key stakeholders of any significant irregularities
  • Steer stakeholders on business, process, and technology for complex and strategic changes
  • Identify opportunities and implement objectives to improve/streamline processes to sustain TDS business growth
  • Influence and work closely with all members of the Product Control team, providing guidance and cross training when required
  • Pro-actively monitor all operational issues pertaining to the assigned business areas in TDS.
  • Liaise with internal auditor and regulators during examinations on valuation related topics

SPECIFIC EDUCATIONAL AND PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • University degree with a professional accounting/finance designation (i.e., CPA, CFA, CMA) or an MBA is an asset
  • 10+ years’ experience in Finance and/or Capital Markets in a large financial services organization
  • 10+ years’ practical experience in Product Control or in Valuation team is preferred
  • Demonstrated deep expertise in valuation topics prescribed per regulatory/accounting rules and industry practice for IPV and VA control processes
  • People management experience
