JOB SUMMARY AND QUALIFICATIONS

The AVP, Strategic Service Lines will identify, asses, and execute service line growth and development opportunities for a designated scope within the Capital Division. They will lead and/or support activities including service line governance & structure, strategic planning & growth insights, program growth & development, and physician development. The AVP, Strategic Service Lines should have career experience with service line leadership. They will be expected to represent the HCA Healthcare Capital Division independently and effectively with Facility executives and physician leaders. They will have exposure to growth and professional development with leadership at many levels within HCA Healthcare and access to a robust strategic service line leadership peer group across the HCA Healthcare enterprise. This position reports to the VP, Strategic Service Lines and will collaborate with the Division Strategy & Development team as well as Facility/Market service line leaders and other key Division stakeholder groups.
The AVP, Strategic Service Lines will be held accountable to the growth and development of designated strategic service lines. As such, they will be expected to lead and execute in the following key focus areas:

Service Line Structure & Governance

  • Leads development and implementation of Division/Market/Facility Service Line Governance inclusive of Physician and Administrative leaders
  • Networks with Corporate and other Division Service Line Leaders to share best practices and opportunities
  • Collaborates with Corporate and Division multidisciplinary stakeholders

Strategic Planning & Growth Insights

  • Supports service line aspects of annual Market Strategic Planning and Division Mid-Year & Business Planning to ensure comprehensive multi-year service line plans in place and being executed upon
  • Develops Service Line Growth Insights for designated service lines to share with Facility Leadership teams at least annually
  • Supports development/distribution of consistent monthly and quarterly service line reporting for Division and Facility Leadership

Program Growth & Development

  • Leads and/or supports assessment, identification and prioritization of existing program optimization and new program development opportunities
  • Leads and/or supports implementation and project management for identified program development objectives
  • Collaborates with Corporate Service Line, HealthTrust and industry partners to bring innovative advancements to Capital Division Facilities and programs
  • Identifies and supports financial resiliency initiatives such as supply expense management
  • Develops research opportunities in designated service lines

Physician Development

  • Collaborates with PSG, PPR and Facility Leadership teams on strategic physician recruitment and red-carpet onboarding
  • Supports advancements of physician leadership in designated service lines
  • Creates opportunities for physician collaboration across markets
  • Identifies physicians to represent Capital Division on key enterprise-wide initiatives, councils and working groups

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Strong business acumen and awareness of market dynamics and competitor activities
  • Understanding of industry trends, growth insights and service line growth forecasts
  • Strong understanding of healthcare regulatory environment
  • Effectively demonstrates collaboration with multidisciplinary stakeholders
  • Strong analytics skills and experience with different tools and reporting platforms
  • Highly proficient with PowerPoint and ability to present information in concise, effective manner
  • Demonstrated leadership competency in understanding stakeholder needs and managing expectations
  • Takes prompt and proactive steps to achieve objectives
  • Demonstrates ability to facilitate large groups at various organizational levels for purposes of planning, problem solving, or strategy development
  • Comfort with and experience working in a matrixed environment

Key Performance Indicators: market share, volume, financial performance
Education: Bachelor’s Degree required, Master’s Degree in business or healthcare administration preferred
Travel: Anticipated 15-20% travel to Division Markets

Experience

  • 5-8 years of comparable experience
  • Experience working with multiple facilities or geographic regions preferred
  • HCA Healthcare experience preferred Certificate/License: None required
