Job Description: The AWS Cloud Engineer is hands-on and primarily responsible for managing and maintaining DLRdmv’s cloud environments. Specifically, this role collaborates closely with IT, Software Engineering, and Product teams to understand needs and requirements before translating them into action – from design and documentation, to monitoring and support. For existing solutions, the AWS Cloud Engineer monitors environments to identify and implement enhancements or improvements as technologies, standards, and best-practices evolve.
This role requires staying current on the latest industry technology and standards, and maintaining an intimate familiarity with the company’s obligations for security, data handling, and risk management.
The AWS Cloud Engineer reports to the CIO, and may be tasked with special projects or other tasks as assigned.

EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in information systems, computer science, or related field of study, or equivalent in education and work experience.

• 4+ YEARS OF EXPERIENCE AS AN AWS CLOUD ENGINEER OR COMPARABLE, BEARING RESPONSIBILITY FOR A PRODUCTION ENVIRONMENT

  • Demonstrable experience setting up, configuring, and maintaining VPCs and associated networking infrastructure
  • Experience working with and managing Windows and Linux server operating systems in a production environment
  • Strong experience with automation and scripting (Bash, PowerShell, Python, Terraform, etc)
  • Exceptional problem-solving and empirical skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively with IT, software engineering, and product teams
  • Excellent communication and documentation skills
  • Self-starting, team oriented, and able to set and prioritize tasks independently
  • Familiarity with Microsoft .NET and other web languages, Containers (EKS/ECR) is a plus

Responsibilities:

  • Maintain technical expertise in AWS and related technologies
  • Develop, implement, and support secure AWS solutions in accordance with best practices, participating in all aspects of the

software development lifecycle

  • Monitor the cloud environment for efficient operation, enhancing and improving as needed
  • Identify, analyze, and resolve infrastructure or configuration vulnerabilities
  • Troubleshoot incidents, identify root causes, fix and document solutions, and implement preventive measures
  • Own backup, restoration, and recovery/failover processes
  • Conduct regular reviews of cloud environments for monthly / quarterly audit, making recommendations for improvements,

and participating in Security Risk Assessments

  • Suggest improvements for existing cloud infrastructure, and lead any modernization efforts that may be required
  • Demonstrate exceptional problem-solving skills, with an ability to see and resolve issues before they impact productivity
