Description:

The role is based within the Councils Data and Insight Service and will design, develop and deliver data products and services that support delivery of business intelligence, analytics and insights to services across the Council. Key areas of responsibility Contribute to a successful, efficient, and effective Data and Insight Service, supporting services and decision-makers to understand how much and how well they are doing and what difference they are making to service users, customers, citizens, and communities in Kirklees.
Act on opportunities for collaboration within and between council services and partner organisations to improve data capability, share good practice and foster a culture of continuous improvement. Positively contribute to the achievement of service, council, and partnership objectives. Lead the design, development, and implementation of automated data flows to extract, transform and link data sources for analytics and business intelligence systems. Lead the review and reengineering of manual data flows to enable scaling and repeatable use.
Write ETL and ELT scripts and code and ensure that processes perform optimally. Build accessible data models for data analysis. Lead work on database design, development, maintenance, and management. Identify and act on opportunities to re-use existing data flows.
Lead the design, development, and maintenance of appropriate metadata repositories. Lead the creation and implementation of appropriate testing regimes to monitor the effectiveness and quality of data engineering work and identify and resolve problems at the earliest opportunity. Document source-to-target mappings. Build strong relationships and work with technical and non-technical stakeholders to gather, interpret and analyse data engineering requirements.
Apply best practice data engineering standards and seek out opportunities for efficiency, effectiveness, and innovation. Apply agile development practices. Act as a mentor to our SQL Developers. Deputise for the Data Engineering and Development Lead as require
