  • Master’s Degree in Nursing or related discipline
  • Current registration with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA)
  • Recent clinical / practical experience
  • Excellent communication, public relations, and interpersonal skills
  • Passion for teaching, ability to inspire students, and commitment to student learning and success
  • Ability to work effectively in a variety of team environments
  • Proven commitment to continuous learning and reflective practice
  • Experience teaching in a post-secondary environment
  • Current Heart and Stroke Foundation Basic Life Support Provider or Recertification Certificate (HSF-BLS Provider)

Responsibilities:

The School of Health and Wellness at Red Deer Polytechnic (RDP) is currently inviting applications for a Probationary Continuous Instructor in the Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BScN) program, commencing December 17, 2024.
The BScN program is a four-year collaborative degree with the University of Alberta. It is approved by the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta. Graduates receive their BScN and are eligible to write the NCLEX examination leading to licensure as an RN.
The BScN program provides exceptional opportunities to work closely with students, faculty and staff in an innovative, supportive environment that promotes creativity, scholarship, and commitment to student success. RDP offers an excellent professional development program that helps faculty to continuously develop skills, knowledge, and expertise specific to teaching and learning as well as their respective discipline.
All four years of the degree program are taught by RDP faculty. Faculty may be assigned instructional workload that requires travel to urban and rural locations in addition to teaching on the RDP campus.

Responsibilities of this position include (but are not limited to):

  • Teaching students in classroom, lab, and/or clinical settings with flexibility for both face-to-face and online course delivery.
  • Creating a stimulating, effective, and learner-centered environment.
  • Preparing, reviewing and/or updating course material.
  • Marking, grading, and evaluation of student work.
  • Providing ongoing feedback, guidance, and assistance to students.
  • Actively contributing and participating in program planning, curriculum development & review, project work, and scholarly activity.
  • Participating in School and Polytechnic-wide initiatives and/or committees.
  • Upholding the Professional Responsibilities of Faculty at RDP, which are described within the Faculty Performance Policy.
  • Demonstrating and promoting RDP organizational values and following RDP policies and practices.
