REQUIREMENTS

• 5 years proven experience as a Back End Java Developer
• Strong proficiency in Java, with a good understanding of its ecosystems
• Experience with frameworks such as Spring or Hibernate
• Familiarity with RESTful APIs and web services
• Knowledge of database systems like MySQL, PostgreSQL, or MongoDB
• Understanding of Agile methodologies
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
• Ideally, experience working in a government or public sector environment
• Knowledge of security best practices and data protection regulations
• Familiarity with DevOps practices and tools
• Must be eligible for SC clearance

ABOUT THE ROLE

FDM is a global business and technology consultancy seeking a Back End Java Developer in London to work for our client within the public sector. This is initially a 12-month contract and the successful candidate must be eligible for SC Clearance. You will be required to attend the London office twice per month.
As a Back End Java Developer, you will play a crucial role in designing, developing, and maintaining robust and scalable back-end systems. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality solutions that meet the needs of a government client.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Develop and maintain back-end applications using Java and related technologies
• Collaborate with front-end developers, product managers, and other stakeholders to define and implement new features
• Ensure the performance, quality, and responsiveness of applications
• Identify and fix bugs and performance bottlenecks
• Write clean, maintainable, and efficient code
• Participate in code reviews and contribute to best practices and coding standards
• Stay up to date with the latest industry trends and technologies
