QUALIFICATIONS

• Proven experience (5+ years) as a backend engineer or in a similar role.
• Strong proficiency in backend technologies, such as:
• Programming languages: Python, Node.js
• Databases: MySQL, PostgreSQL
• API development: RESTful
• Cloud services: AWS fundamentals (ECS, S3, Lambda, CloudWatch)
• Containerization: Docker
• Version control: Git, GitHub
• Search and logging: Elasticsearch, Logstash and Kibana
• Experience with microservices architecture, distributed systems and large-scale applications
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, automated testing and DevOps practices
• Experience working in Agile/Iterative development environment including Jira Software
• Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot and optimize systems
• Good communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
• Fluency in written and spoken English is required for this role

ROLE

We are looking for a motivated and highly skilled Backend Engineer to join our team. In this role, you will design, develop and maintain the server-side logic of our applications, ensuring high performance and responsiveness. You will collaborate closely with other engineers, product managers and stakeholders to create innovative solutions that power our property platform.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Develop, test and maintain high-performance APIs, services, ETL pipelines and databases
• Design scalable and secure backend systems that can handle large amounts of traffic
• Collaborate with frontend engineers to integrate user-facing elements with server-side logic
• Optimize backend code and database queries to improve application performance
• Optimize data models to ensure accessible, well-organized and high data quality
• Implement security and data protection strategies
• Write clean, maintainable, efficient and documented code, adhering to best practices
• Debug and resolve issues in a timely manner, ensuring the stability of the platform
• Participate in code reviews, providing constructive feedback and mentoring junior engineers
• Stay up to date with emerging technologies
• Contribute to technical decision-making and architecture design
