We are looking for a Backend Engineer with 5+ years of experience in developing web based applications. As a member of our engineering team, you will play a crucial role in developing, and scaling our Learning as a Service platform. You will collaborate closely with our front-end engineers, product managers, UX/UI designers, and other stakeholders to build robust and efficient backend solutions. A natural sense of curiosity to learn and work with new technologies is one of your trademarks, and your clear and analytical mindset helps you to apply your experience in a goal oriented manner. Above all, you value teamwork and believe that working together is more important and leverages better results than a team of individualists.

• Develop and scale individual modules and services of our web based Learning as a Service platform using best practices.
• Work with modern backend languages like Python and frameworks like FastAPI. Knowledge in other backend languages like Java or Go and web application frameworks such as Django, Spring, or similar is a plus.
• A clear advantage is the ability to work with modern frontend languages and frameworks such as Typescript/Javascript and React that you would apply building components for your backend business logic.
• Utilise Python’s asyncio library for asynchronous programming and develop highly performant and scalable backend code.
• Develop and optimise complex SQL queries to ensure efficient database operations.
• Implement automated testing and embrace test-driven development to ensure the quality and stability of the backend codebase.
• Participate in code reviews, design discussions, and provide constructive feedback to peers.
• Utilise cloud native technologies and work with our Cloud.Ops team to deploy, maintain, and run our applications in Kubernetes clusters on AWS or GCP.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define and implement backend requirements and APIs.
• Troubleshoot and debug backend issues, identify performance bottlenecks, and implement effective solutions.
• Stay up-to-date with emerging technologies, trends, and best practices in backend development – you will be provided with dedicated time for research
