Backend
The Subscriptions R&D team oversees the entire user journey on Spotify and ensures we engage with people in innovative ways, every step of the way. Our team grows Spotify’s audience by finding future listeners around the world and delivering the right value to them, at the right time. With research, product development, product design, engineering, and marketing all collaborating in one organization, we’re able to quickly create meaningful features and services for millions of people around the world, resulting in joyful, long-lasting relationships with Spotify.

What You’ll Do

  • Deliver towards company objectives to enable tiered value & feature degradation across the freemium platform
  • Work closely with mobile engineers on the squad, as well as team members from Product, Data Science, User Research and Design disciplines
  • Collaborate closely with engineers across our product area to streamline our features and system capabilities
  • Design, develop and deploy backend services with a focus on high availability, low latency and scalability
  • Take operational responsibility for the services that are owned by your team, including taking part in an on-call and goalie rotation

Who You Are

  • Knowledge of building and scaling backend services
  • Knowledge with (or interest in) data and data pipelines (Scio)
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with a positive and proactive attitude
  • Ability to draw diagrams to express design and architecture
  • Eager to learn and collaborate with others
  • Strong writing and communication skills
