QUALIFICATIONS

  • 6+ years working in backend development in a professional environment
  • 6+ years working with relational databases.
  • 3+ years and proficiency in Java.
  • 3+ year and proficiency in at least one major cloud service provider (e.g. AWS, GCP, Azure).
  • Strong proficiency in API design and data modeling, object-oriented programming, MVC (or alternative flavors), relational database design, and testing methodologies.
  • Proficiency in version control tools (e.g. Git) and containerization (e.g. Docker), CI/CD pipelines (e.g. GitHub Actions), and automated testing frameworks.
  • Experience in Agile/Scrum methodologies.

Nice-to-Haves

  • Experience in customer-facing product engineering (B2B and/or B2C).
  • Experience developing or working with geospatial analytics solutions.
  • Experience with AWS, PostgreSQL, and Terraform.

This is especially true for this role, because you will assume this team’s backend technical leadership.
This position is fully remote and requires overlap with the existing team. Your work hours will overlap other teammates during the hours of 8 am ET - 5 pm ET, with +/- 3 hours flexibility.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

  • Design, develop, and maintain robust and scalable backend systems using Java, PostgreSQL, AWS, Docker, Terraform, and other modern technologies.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define, design, and ship new features.
  • Work with Frontend developers to plan and coordinate development efforts
  • Own projects from start to finish
  • Work with business stakeholders and customers to write technical specifications and documentation.
  • Support and mentor other backend team members to promote their efficiency and growth.
  • Troubleshoot and debug issues, providing timely resolutions to ensure smooth operation of the platform.
  • Optimize application performance, reliability, and scalability. Write clean, maintainable code following best practices and coding standards.
  • Identify and address technical debt and performance bottlenecks, and iteratively improve the products.
