POSITION OVERVIEW

Vetster is looking for a Senior Backend Software Engineer to develop incredible product features that deliver value to pet owners and veterinary professionals. We build complex, globally distributed systems leveraging Laravel, Postgres, Redis, Elasticsearch, Vue, and React Native. Working with a Technical Lead, the Senior Software Engineer is responsible for building, testing, and operationalizing backend RESTful applications with a cross-discipline engineering team. You are passionate about technology and developing robust, scalable, state-of-the-art software systems, as well as sharing your knowledge and mentoring junior members of the team.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • BA/BS degree in Computer Science, a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years in application design, development, and testing, preferably with Laravel.
  • Proficiency in API development (REST, GraphQL, or gRPC) and database systems (relational and NoSQL).
  • Familiarity with cloud-based architectures, preferably AWS.
  • Comprehensive experience in automated testing and source control systems, particularly Git.
  • Excellent communication skills and experience in a fast-paced, agile environment.

  • Engage in the entire development lifecycle, from design through deployment to maintenance.
  • Collaborate with teams across Product, UX Design, User Research, and Data Engineering to develop exceptional digital experiences.
  • Conduct and participate in code reviews, striving for excellence in development standards.
  • Deliver high-quality code in an agile environment, working collaboratively with the team.
  • Define business and product requirements, assess technical feasibility, and drive solutions.
  • Mentor junior engineers, sharing your knowledge and expertise to enhance team capability.
  • Manage the operational aspects of applications, including incident response and maintenance.
