We are looking for an artist to join our team who shares our vision and will bring with them a passion for creating high quality content.
We are looking for a Background Painter to join our Toronto studio.
Purpose: Why you’re here at Brown Bag Films
To produce Background Paintings, in correct and approved style of the animated production.
Delivery: What you produce
Completed Background Paintings for the property, painted in correct style and ready for scene planning and animation.

Measurements: How we measure it

• Meets creative requirements, within stylistic guidelines and schedule
• BG Paint Supervisor and Art Director approvals

KEY REQUIREMENTS

Requirements for the role: Things that help you do your job (what is essential and what is desirable)

Knowledge:

• Strong knowledge in art and design with a focus on Animation.
• Strong artistic sensibility, centered on painting environments and backgrounds for animated productions.
• Strong knowledge of colour and colour styling.
• Familiarity with the 2D pipeline.
• Knowledge of Photoshop

Experience:

• Background paint or painted environmental visual development for an animated TV Series or Feature.

Technical Skills:

• Drawing & painting within an animation environment.
• Expert in Photoshop.

Portfolio demonstrating a diverse range of styles, (incorporating understanding of graphic, illustrative and comic book art favorable) .-

Responsibilities: What you are regularly responsible for doing

• Creating Background Paintings using provided layouts, making sure that the Backgrounds stay on style of the production.
• Working closely with BG Paint Supervisor to find the best solutions for technical challenges.
• Creating background paintings in the correct form, layered correctly with appropriate layout provided guides intact and ready for scene planning and animation.
