Description:

In this exciting role, you will lead, coach and motivate Bakery Team Members to improve productivity, engagement and retention within our Bakery Department.
We are looking for someone to lead a from scratch production department. You will supervise, coach, and coordinate the activities of Team Members who produce, portion, and serve various bakery products, and assure that all objectives and goals of the department and store, as communicated by the Market Manager, and leadership team, are met or exceeded. You will ensure a positive company image by providing legendary customer service and exceptional leadership!
Duties and Responsibilities:

Responsibilities and essential job functions include but are not limited to the following:

  • Training team members to provide superior “legendary” customer service
  • Coaching and developing of team members on daily tasks
  • Responsible for all assigned orders and ensuring the order guides are being completed properly
  • Setting routines for team members to follow in order to monitor production levels
  • Weekly meetings with the management team to discuss sales and action plans for sales increase
  • Monthly inventory of Bakery department
  • Checking orders to guarantee accuracy, signing off on invoices.

Planning and Execution:

  • Follow through with routines to maximize productivity and work on time management
  • Work with management team in order to utilize management information tools and analyze financial reports to identify and address trends and issues in Bakery performance.

Team Member Development & Team Building

  • Providing Bakery Team Members with, coaching, feedback, and developmental opportunities, and building effective teams.
  • Actively manages Bakery Team Members and works with the Management team to regularly conduct performance assessments (3 month, 6 month, one

year & annually) providing feedback, and setting challenging goals to improve Team Member performance.

  • Follow up with Bakery team on performance, verbal and written warnings depending on the issues.
  • Setting up daily and weekly targets for bakery items, with main focus on items which are down over previous year, these should be reviewed with the

bakery team and the market manager at the weekly meetings.

Production Focus:

  • Lead a from scratch high volume production department.
  • Estimate and order ingredients and supplies.
  • Monitor customer order summaries and completion to guarantee quality and accuracy.
  • Maintain records of stock, repairs, sales, and wastage.
  • Organize frequent inventory of department.
  • Ensure all standardized recipes are being followed without deviation.
  • Reporting any recipe errors or concerns immediately to the Standardization Chef/Market Management.
  • Ensure that food products and customer service meet Sunterra quality standards.
  • Demonstrate growth in product knowledge, including awareness of product changes, promotions, and seasonal trends.
  • Control and maintain records of inventory, monitor product cost, and inform management.
  • Resolve customer complaints and ensure health and safety regulations are followed.
  • Waste bin execution.
  • Selection of new Team Members and assist in the development of policies, procedures, and budgets.
  • Follow and monitor sanitation checklists and log sheets.
  • Set Team Member work schedules and monitor Team Member performance.
  • Train and coach Team Members in job role duties and health and safety procedures.

  • Maintaining a full, colorful and abundant showcase, with attention to product rotation signage.
  • Responsible for all promotional and holiday roll-outs
  • Cover bakery shifts when required.

Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in commercial bakery or kitchen production experience
  • Previous experience in food service management/leadership
  • Post-Secondary in Baking & Pastry Arts preferred
  • Experience within a commercial bakery
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Excellent communications skills
  • Managerial or supervisory skills
  • Competency in time management and target completions
  • Understanding of ordering, budgeting and sales analysis

Working Conditions:?
Standing and/or walking for extended periods of time.
Some exposure to temperature variations and wet conditions.
May walk and work on uneven surfaces.
Working around hot surfaces (grills, stoves, ovens, etc.)
Working with knives and slicing machines
Requires some reaching above and below shoulder height.
Repetitive use of hands with power grasping and fine manipulation.
Repetitive stretching and lifting required.
Lifting of items up to 40 pounds (over 40 requires a team lift)
WHIMS and Food Safety certification requirement (Sunterra will provide online training)
