Description:
The post holder is responsible for cleaning and maintaining a safe working environment using measures to reduce cross infection as per Trust policy. Communicate effectively with patients, carers, relatives and all members of the multidisciplinary team, including giving of advice and information following procedures or relating to specialist conditions, including emotionally distressing situations. To organise and provide chair-side nursing in orthodontic and oral surgery clinics. To assist with procedures under local anaesthetic, IV sedation and general anaesthetic, lasting up to an hour.
To organise, prepare and assist with specialist clinics e.g., Orthognathic, Skin lists. Prepare medical and orthodontic notes for clinics including obtaining investigation results from computerised systems e.g., MRI and CT scans. Obtaining Orthodontic appliances from the laboratory. Responsible for recording and storage of patient study models of patients currently undergoing treatment.
Take on responsibility for personal development and support the development and supervision of others by developing and maintaining specialist knowledge. Conduct oneself in a professional manner and be a role model to less experienced and new staff at all times. Work proactively to ensure that every patient attendance meets the patients expectations and needs with timely undertaking of procedure and effective communication with relatives, patients and carers
