Description:
The successful applicant will be responsible for the pre procedure assessment of patients to determine their suitability for outpatient endoscopy. Successful applicant will also provide advice and guidance for patients regarding pending endoscopy as well as safe and appropriate post procedure care for endoscopy out patients. To liaise with Endoscopy Booking office to ensure the patients timely admission and with MDT to ensure efficient patient journey through the endoscopy system.

1. Complete comprehensive assessment of patients’ medical history/systems enquiry.
2. Instigate and check investigations as approriate
3. Assessment of patients’ suitability for endoscopy procedures via telephone conversation or in a clinic environment.
4. Take responsibility for personal development and education and the development of a Personal Development Plan.
5. Provide pre procedure information to patient and their families or carers.
6. Abide by legal requirements and statutory rules relating to NMC codes, scope of practice and relevant local policies.
7. Maintain accurate and confidential clinical and nursing documentation.
8. Upload and maintain electronic data related to the service.
9. Liaise and communicate effectively with endoscopists and other multi-disciplinary health care professionals to ensure patient is optimised prior to procedure.
10. To have flexible approach and to work cross site to deliver high quality endoscopy pre assessment to enhance patient experience including patient safety in relation to bowel preparation to reduce failed procedures and DNA rates.
11. Participate in research and audit as required and the application of research findings into clinical practice.
12. To have awareness of appropriate use of resources.
13. Take part in the initiating of new ideas and implementation of evidence based practice.
14. Participate in the maintenance and development of all aspects of clinical governance and clinical supervision.
15. Demonstrate commitment to IWL principles and flexible working patterns, to meet the needs of the service and staff.
