Description:
We are seeking a qualified Mechanical Maintenance Engineer responsible for undertaking planned and reactive maintenance of complex mechanical control systems across the diverse building services of the Trust estate.
PLEASE NOTE; YOU MUST HAVE THE FOLLOWING QUALIFICATIONS:
Recognised time served
apprenticeship, or City & Guilds in
Mechanical Engineering/Plumbing or
BTEC (ONC) in Engineering or
equivalent.
NVQ3 or above

Our staff development is important to us, and we have a wealth of training and apprenticeship schemes to broaden and develop your skills with the support of the Estates management.
The role is based at Watford General Hospital, however there may be occasions when the role will be required to travel across the other sites.
You will have the ability to analyse complex faults and undertake rectifications to ensure continuity of service.
You will be able to prioritise workloads, identify potential improvement to operational system and management processes in order to increase departmental efficiencies.
Please note- You must be able to travel to site for emergency on-call within an hour.

- Undertake complex trade tasks within your specialist area in support of the Team’s overall output.
- In support of the other supervisor ensures the day to day efficient and safe working of all engineering plant on site.
- To attend to plant breakdowns to carry out repairs and restore the units to service as quickly and efficiently as possible.
- To be in attendance and carry out preparation work to facilitate inspections carried out by the Trust’s pressure vessel insurers.
- To activate changeover of plant and or its safe isolation in the event of a malfunction or breakdown.
- To be able to work on all types of air-conditioning plant.
- Be fully conversant with all types of belt drives, pulleys and direct drive couplings.
- Be fully conversant with all types of pumps.
- To be able to work on oil free medical and control air reciprocating compressors and vacuum plant.
- To be able to carry out minor installation work of all types of pipe work.
- Experienced in hydraulic and pneumatic control systems.
- Is conversant with H.T.H.W. M.T.H.W. L.P.H.W. and Steam Heating Systems. June 2016.
- To be able to carry out minor electrical work such as isolation/connection/disconnection of electrical supplies to all forms of mechanical plant
