We are looking for an enthusiastic qualified or due to qualify, Occupational Therapist to join our Band 5 rotation, in exciting new development posts.
The Occupational Therapy rotation offers the opportunity to work in the following care settings; Cardio/Respiratory/Frailty, Orthopaedics, Acute Stroke Rehabilitation, REACT (A&E service) , Discharge services, and Hand Therapy. Services are based at Leighton Hospital and community locations in central Cheshire.
Preceptorship training is available and support to develop through a CPD programme with each team.
The role will require clear assessment and goal planning skills and the ability to carry your own caseload prioritising your patients. Good communication is a requirement and knowledge of continuous improvement and development would be helpful.
Applicants will also be considered for OT bank work should it be requested.
To rotate through a wide range of rotations within MCHT, the acute Trust and CCICP, the Community Trust.
To undertake assessment of patients with a wide range of conditions and to work as autonomous clinicians, under the guidance of Clinical Specialist Occupational Therapists as required, using accurate analytical skills and clinical reasoning to interpret assessment findings, identifying patient problems, setting goals, and providing an appropriate treatment plan and progression.
To work collaboratively, using your communication skills with the patient, their NOK, members of the multidisciplinary team and multiagency teams to achieve the best possible outcome for the patient.
Mid Cheshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (MCHFT) provides good quality, safe and effective healthcare to the people of Cheshire and beyond. Job Description
To work autonomously to manage a defined patient caseload whilst working as part of a multidisciplinary team, referring to a senior clinician who is available on a daily basis as required.
To contribute to the delivery of the service in a variety of defined clinical settings, which may include in-patient wards, out-patient and community clinics and the patient’s home.
To utilise effective communication skills to ensure clinical advice and treatment programmes are delivered sensitively, taking into consideration the needs of carers.
To maintain professional practice within the context of the Health & Care Professions Council. This includes standards of proficiency, conduct and performance, ethics and continuing professional development.

Person Specification - Essential

  • HCPC registration or application for HCPC registration
  • Relevant professional degree / diploma
  • Knowledge of a range of assessment tools & interventions relevant to a broad range of patients
  • Awareness of recent NHS legislation, recommendations.
  • Awareness of national and local priorities and changing trends
  • Broad range of clinical experience as a student in NHS settings
  • Demonstrate an understanding of the Occupational Therapy Service
  • Effective communication and listening skills
  • Car driver/ability to demonstrate travel between sites/community settings.
