Description:
We are seeking an enthusiastic and skilled Practice Development Nurse to join our Medicine Division.
This full-time role involves leading the education and training of nursing staff to ensure the highest quality of patient care.
As a key member of the team, you will work closely with the Matron’s, nursing teams and the Head of Nursing to identify training needs and create tailored development plans.

Depending on experience, this is a progression post, starting at a band 6, uplift to a band 7 once competencies have been met.
As the Practice Development Nurse, your primary responsibilities will include:
- Education & Training: Develop, plan, and implement comprehensive training programs tailored to the needs of the Medicine Directorate. Conduct Training Needs Analysis (TNA) to identify gaps and create targeted learning opportunities. Design and update competency-based induction and training packages, ensuring they meet both individual and service requirements.
- Clinical Leadership: Act as a visible and approachable clinical leader and role model. Provide mentorship and support to both new and existing staff, ensuring high standards of practice and patient care. Facilitate educational support and assessments, utilizing structured approaches and action plans to address competency and skills gaps.
- Collaboration & Communication: Work closely with multidisciplinary teams to promote effective learning and practice across the organisation. Liaise with internal and external stakeholders to share best practices and integrate new educational developments.
- Quality & Compliance: Implement, monitor, and maintain quality measures for educational programs. Ensure that all training aligns with organisational standards and regulatory requirements.
- Flexible Support: Provide clinical support in medicine areas when staffing levels are low or patient acuity is high. Contribute to service development and continuous improvement by staying updated with current and emerging practices and policies.
