BAND 6 DEVELOPMENTAL POST TO BAND 7 ADVANCED SENIOR BLOOD TRANSFUSION

Airedale NHS Foundation Trust (ANHSFT), Bradford Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (BTHFT), and Harrogate General Hospital (HGH) are high-performing Trusts providing acute and specialist outreach services for local people.
ANHSFT, BTHFT, and HGH have formed a joint venture, Integrated Pathology Solutions LLP (IPS) to provide Pathology services to the three organisations and other local healthcare providers.
Applications are invited from experienced HCPC registered Biomedical Scientists for a developmental post from Band 6 Specialist Biomedical Scientist to Band 7 Advanced Senior Biomedical Scientist in Blood Transfusion with a minimum of 3 years’ experience in Transfusion. The successful applicant must be motivated and committed to undertake and complete the Higher Specialist Portfolio in Blood Transfusion Science course which will be funded as part of the role. Support will be provided throughout the developmental program including an allowed amount of study leave time to attain the required qualification and competence.
The successful candidate will be expected to take on a senior role within the management of the department ensuring that the high standards already established within the department are maintained. You will also b e responsible for direction setting and supervision of staff to ensure the routine technical and quality activities of the Blood Transfusion department are performed and monitored . Candidates will need to be enthusiastic, well-motivated and innovative, with good organisational and practical abilities supported by a sound discipline scientific knowledge and understanding of BSQR and BCSH guidelines. Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills and a leadership ability to support individual and team working is essential. The post holder must be willing and able to participate in working rotas including day shifts, night shifts, weekend long days, bank holidays, early shifts, and late shifts to meet the needs of the service. Once a Band 7 position is achieved there would not be a need to routinely work out of hours shifts unless this is necessary for the needs of the service.
The post is primarily based at Bradford Royal Infirmary blood transfusion department however applicants will be required to work at any of the IPS laboratories as required.
