Description:

An opportunity has arisen for a Band 6 Junior Sister/Charge Nurse to join our friendly and supportive team.
You will need to work closely with Consultants , Junior Doctors and other multidisciplinary teams on the ward, as part of the provision of care services to patients.
We are looking for someone with a strong leadership style who is able to support forward planning and has a strong discharge focus in practice.
As Sister/Charge Nurse, you will be working closely with the Senior Sister and Matron, playing an integral role in driving changes with a range of comprehensive orientation and support.

Essential skills key to this role are implementing and maintaining high clinical standards whilst caring for patients, enhancing staff personal development, providing guidance, support and expertise to clinical staff.

Responsibilities:

Responsible for the assessment of patient care needs the development, implementation, and evaluation of programmes of care without supervision.
To participate and assist in systematic monitoring and evaluation of nursing practice.
To participate and assist in setting standards of patient care based on sound evidence-based findings, implementing these into practice.
To ensure that the nursing practices of the area comply with the Trust’s Nursing policies and procedures and maintain high standards of nursing practice.
To always comply with the NMC Code of Conduct (2002).
To communicate effectively and liaise with all health care staff as appropriate.
To encourage and maintain good relationships with Medical Staff and other members of the Primary care & Social Services teams to provide the best care.
To support the implementation and maintenance of Team Nursing within the clinical area, taking responsibility for a small caseload of patients. Within this system of case management, co-ordinate and monitor the progress of patients along their critical pathway, reporting any variance from the pathway. Take named responsibility for co-ordinating individual patient’s discharge.
To participate in Quality Assurance initiatives within the unit
