ARE YOU AN OCCUPATIONAL THERAPIST SPECIALISING IN NEUROLOGY?
Our NHS client is seeking an experienced and compassionate Band 6 Occupational Therapist to join their neurological service based in Welwyn, Hertfordshire. This full-time position is available to start immediately for an initial period of 3 months ( subject to review).
Location: Welwyn, Hertfordshire
Position: Band 6 Occupational Therapist
Hours: Full-time, 37.5 hours per week
Duration: Immediate start until 20 November 2024
Pay: Competitive, to be discussed upon application
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:
- HCPC registered as an Occupational Therapist
- Relevant degree/qualifications in Occupational Therapy
- Proven experience working with patients with neurological conditions, including stroke, head injury, Parkinson’s disease, multiple sclerosis, and progressive conditions
- Experience in rehabilitation and management of long-term conditions
- Community experience and experience working with adults and older adults
- Experience working within a multidisciplinary team (MDT)
- Full driver’s licence and own vehicle (essential for community visits)
- Ability to develop a rapport with patients
- Excellent time management and communication skills

Responsibilities:
Provide a specialist level of clinical skill in paediatric occupational therapy, delivering high-quality assessments and interventions tailored to the needs of each child. Manage a clinical caseload of children attending Perseid Special Schools as specified by the service, independently handling and prioritising your workload to ensure effective service provision. Conduct comprehensive assessments and implement therapeutic interventions for clients with complex neurological conditions, including stroke, head injury, Parkinson’s disease, multiple sclerosis, and progressive conditions. Engage in high-level clinical decision-making to support A&E four-hour targets and conduct risk assessments related to the physical moving and handling of complex, dependent patients. Analyse socio-environmental risks to facilitate swift discharge home, utilising your analytical and clinical reasoning skills alongside appropriate outcome measures. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop and implement personalised care plans, ensuring holistic support for each patient. Provide training and guidance to other healthcare professionals and caregivers on effective therapeutic techniques and strategies. Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of assessments, interventions, and progress, ensuring compliance with professional and regulatory standards.
