Description:

We are looking for Band 6 POCT Scientist to join our friendly team.
You will Support the running of the POCT department reporting directly to the POCT Manager, deputising as needed.
You will be responsible for the safe use of POCT devices used by staff across the Trust ensuring staff are trained and competent to do so. Including ongoing training and competency requirements as set out in the POCT Policy and responsible use of the quality management processes for all POCT devices and maintain accurate databases of users ensuring the accuracy of information held.
Attend meetings and provide EQA feedback highlighting any areas of concern.
To be fully trained in the use of all POCT equipment to be able to perform and interpret diagnostic tests in line with device SOPs and trust POCT policy and to maintain and troubleshoot devices as required.
Supervision of POCT staff to ensure the team is meeting objectives and working effectively.
Must be able to demonstrate effective communication skills to all staff levels via all available communication routes, to troubleshoot issues and ensure optimal analyser uptime.
Writing / review of POCT Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and other documentation.
Maintain ongoing Professional Portfolio and update Continued Professional Development Plan. This may involve undertaking courses and other activities.
Undertake regular audits on the use of POCT devices. Including the use of the correct patient identifiers, barcode ID use.
Validation and Verification of POCT devices & clinical systems, new and existing in compliance with UKAS ISO 15189:2022
To assist the wards and departments to oversee stock control of POCT equipment and ensure adequate stock levels and appropriate storage conditions are adhered to, if required.
Root cause analysis for any non-conformance/quality deviation related to POCT equipment, or lack of and reporting of adverse incidents using the trusts “In Phase” system.
