Band 7 Pre- Treatment Therapy Radiographer - Chelsea Site.
The Royal Marsden has an international reputation for high quality patient care, education and research and its partnership with the Institute of Cancer Research has created the largest comprehensive cancer centre in Europe.
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced, caring and highly motivated therapy radiographer to work as a Band 7 team leader within the Pre-Treatment team. We are looking for a practitioner with an excellent technical background and pre-treatment experience at senior level. This role requires someone confident and experienced in advanced pre-treatment imaging and virtual simulation techniques including 4DCT, breath-hold (VIBH), SABR, VMAT and more. Knowledge and experience of cannulation and contrast administration is desirable. The successful candidate will be expected to achieve competency in pre-treatment skills to ensure an efficient, high-quality service is offered to all patients throughout the patient pathway.
The ideal candidate will enjoy working as part of a team and will have exemplary communication and patient care skills. A key quality will be the ability to manage a complex workload, whilst providing strong leadership to a team of staff.

1.1. When they are working as a Senior I clinical practitioner they will be responsible for the radiotherapy processes at and the operational management of a specialist highly complex radiotherapy work base, which may be a treatment unit, a CT scanner, or a treatment preparation area. They will supervise the immediate radiographic team including students, aides and visitors on a rotational basis, ensuring that the practise of all results in the radiotherapy processes at their work base being performed accurately as prescribed.
1.2. The post-holder will liaise with medical, physics, nursing, clerical and support staff within the department and throughout the institution. The key working relationships will be with superintendent radiographers.

2.1 As clinical lead at the work base to be responsible for evidence based decision making within prescribed limits. Be competent to analyse and approve images following designated training and adhering to protocols.
2.2 Responsible for the accurate preparation, planning and delivery of treatment by self and by all members of the immediate team.
2.3 Set high standards of technical expertise, acting as role model to junior staff members. To be responsible for maintaining professional standards of self and other team members.
2.4 Responsible for the training of team members in the operation of all equipment safely and efficiently as per manufacturers’ instructions, including local guidelines, under the guidance of superintendent radiographers.
2.5 Meet the regulatory responsibilities defined for an operator as delegated by the Trust under the IR(ME)R regulations. With appropriate experience may also be defined as a practitioner for concomitant exposures.
2.6 Make evidence based decisions within the prescribed scope of practice. Analysis and approval of planning and treatment verification images, following designated training and adhering to work instructions and protocols
