Description:

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a consultant nurse to join the Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust Breast services (RFL). We are looking for an innovative and transformational leader, who is seeking to further their nursing career within breast services. The expectations of the post will be demonstrated across the four pillars of consultant level practice: expert advanced clinical practice, strategic and enabling leadership, learning, developing and improving across the system, research and innovation.
The role is pivotal to working collaboratively with the MDT team, in building capacity and expanding the nurse led services to further shape and deliver the strategic vision of a world class Breast Service for our local population.
RFL Breast services delivers a wide range of diagnostic and treatment options across the patient pathway for benign and malignant breast conditions. The range of services includes breast screening, breast pain, family history and genetics and plastic reconstructive surgery. The service provides comprehensive treatment options for advanced and metastatic cancer patients and is committed to supporting research and evidence-based treatments in line with both local and national policies. The successful applicant should have broad experience which includes managing patients receiving systemic anti-cancer therapy.

The Consultant Nurse will lead and role model advanced clinical practice developing clinical service pathways across the Breast Service. This is a key post within the Breast nursing team and will define, shape and develop the clinical breast services across all sites in the Trust.
The role will provide system leadership and support to the specialist Breast nurses to realise their full potential as autonomous practitioners to ensuring seamless delivery of patient care ensuring high quality clinical outcomes.
The post holder will act as an innovator, motivator, key change agent to redesign breast services including quality improvement, implementation of national initiatives, service reconfiguration and new digitally enabled models of care.
The post holder will work closely with the Divisional Clinical Director, Deputy Director of Nursing, Breast Service lead, Oncology service lead, Lead Cancer Nurse, Head of Nursing, Matron, Lead Nurses, Operational, patients and wider MDT teams to develop Breast services responsive to the needs of patients and staff.
The role blends a significant proportion of direct advanced clinical practice with education, research and management activities. The post holder will have an educational commitment to ensure breast clinical pathways and practices are reflected in all staff training programmes.
