Description:

We are looking for an enthusiastic dentist to join our emergency dental service which operates across Cambridgeshire.
The post holder will work adhoc sessions Monday - Friday when required. All clinics are modern, airy and have digital x-ray systems. T
We are very proud of the services we provide to our patients and this role is vital to support safe and compassionate care .
The successful candidate will provide dental care to patients requiring emergency dental treatment, supported by our team of dental healthcare professionals, a clinical lead and a wider leadership team.
This exciting and varied role will include emergency care on a domiciliary basis.

To provide a full range of dental care to patients of the Dental HealthCare Suffolk Special care Dental Service. This includes priority and vulnerable and groups meeting special care service criteria, and children and adults with moderate-severe anxiety.

To provide emergency dental care to patients and visitors in line with clinical standards.

  • Undertakes thorough examination and assessment of the patient, offering treatment options and their respective risks and benefits.
  • Support telephone triage and remote prescribing when required, following the Antimicrobial Stewardship and prescribing guidance for dental services.
  • Domiciliary visits may be required for patients who have an emergency/urgent dental problem who are unable to leave their homes.
  • You will plan and manage care for a range of patients. Plans, develops, implements, and evaluates programmes to prevent disease and promote health in target groups within the population.
  • Can identify commonly occurring medical emergencies and lead the dental team in the appropriate first line management of the emergency, using appropriate techniques, equipment and drugs. Keeps up to date with developments in this area.
  • Uses appropriate local anaesthetic and patient management approaches to control pain and anxiety during dental treatment.
  • Undertakes the diagnosis, selection of appropriate periodontal techniques and delivery of periodontal care in an effective way.
  • Undertakes the diagnosis, selection of appropriate restorative technique and delivery of restoration or replacement of teeth in an effective way.
  • Routine exodontias and/or simple surgical exodontias.
  • Undertakes appropriate assessment of patients to determine the need for specialist advice, onward referral.
  • Undertakes appropriate investigations during the patient examination to determine the need for specialist advice.
  • To show empathy when dealing with patients, carers and families.
  • To be aware of the responsibilities of all employees to maintain a safe and healthy environment for patients, visitors and staff.
  • Be responsible for safe working practice on a day-to-day basis, ensuring that all clinical activity complies with clinical governance and legislation.
  • To complete clinical notes in accordance with the Trusts policy.
  • To report any incidents/near misses on the Trusts reporting system (Datix)
  • Undertakes any reasonable duties that the Clinical Lead/Service Lead requests.
  • Participates in team meetings, peer review and clinical audit.
  • To actively seek to improve patient experiences and outcomes.
  • To offer suggestions to Improve the quality and development of services.
  • To be able to travel within the district and hold a valid driving licence.
  • To ensure that continuing professional development training needs are met in consultation with the Clinical lead/Service Lead.
  • To be a good team member who listens to and supports colleagues at all levels.
