THE PRACTICE
This role will be primarily focussed on Real Estate Finance work. We have a growing international profile in this area and are increasingly instructed by internationally significant clients on complex cross-border financings.
We continue to act on a wide range of property finance matters, from core investment and development financings to complex, multi-banked deals which include both senior and mezzanine debt and intercreditor arrangements. Our finance team work in tandem with our key sector specialists in real estate, corporate, construction, planning, environmental and tax.
We have an increasingly diverse client base, including most of the UK clearing banks, a number of specialist real estate credit funds, and a number of real estate sponsor clients. Our work is both domestic and international and our team has a strong reputation within the real estate finance market.
TECHNICAL SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
You will preferably have worked in a specialist real estate finance team and will have experience of leading transactions which involve both bilateral and multi-banked syndicated facilities.
As a guide, due to the nature of the work and the structure of the team, we are looking to appoint a Senior Associate in this area, although we will consider candidates with more or less experience.
In addition to a good technical grounding, you will:
- have a desire and interest in building client relationships
- have supervisory experience with the ability to co-ordinate workloads
- have the ability to present technical legal issues in a clear, approachable and professional way
- have client orientated approach and good commercial awareness
- have an appetite for business development and be passionate about helping to help build the REF business
- be a confident self-starter with a proven track record in real estate finance
Responsibilities:
“‘Strong, very responsive team’ that provides ‘very good coverage’ of a range of property finance matters” – Chambers & Partners
Our banking team is a well established market leading practice, comprising a 7-partner team now, with plans for further growth. We have strong relationships with all the UK’s major clearing banks, as well as a number of credit funds and specialist lenders, and we are fully integrated into OC’s fast-growing national and international network. We have a market leading reputation in all of our key sectors which include Financial Services, Telecoms, Media and Communications, The Built Environment, and Energy and Utilities, as well as hotels and leisure, healthcare, education and fund financings.
