Description:

Red Deer Resort & Casino is looking for a hardworking and reliable Banquet Porter/Server to join our team! As a Banquet Porter, you’ll play a key role in setting up and breaking down events, ensuring the venue is perfectly arranged for our guests. SUMMARY

Under the guidance of the Banquet Supervisor, the Banquet Porter/Server is responsible for the set-up of assigned tables, retrieving and serving alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, in addition to serving food orders to guest tables in a prompt, courteous and efficient manner. The successful candidate must have superior customer service, ability to work as a team and multitasking skills, as well as the ability to prioritize tasks with minimal supervision.

EDUCATION, QUALIFICATION AND REQUIREMENTS

  • Minimum high school diploma or GED; Some education in hospitality (preferred but not required)
  • One to two years of related experience in a fast-paced environment transporting food and beverage trays of up to 25 pounds; similar hotel work experience is preferred but not required
  • Proven Customer Service Skills
  • Ability to perform duties with minimal supervision
  • Ability to work as part of a team and follow instructions
  • Willingness to learn and able to quickly adapt to change
  • Can work well under pressure
  • Excellent work ethic: driven, organized, dependable, flexible, available to pick up or volunteer for shifts as required to maintain operational requirements
  • Must be fluent in English, both written and verbal. Ability to work following verbal and written instructions.
  • Pro Serve Certificate required
  • Protect Certificate required
  • As a condition of employment, associates are to have a criminal record check prior to their first day of work

Responsibilities:

  • Ability to maintain knowledge of service requirements such as menu selections, ingredients, prices, station assignments and table settings
  • Be aware of the group name, type of function, expected attendance, and scheduled hours of service and arrange for special requests
  • Maintain knowledge of, and strictly abide by, provincial liquor regulations
  • Assist with event preparation, set up and closing, including setting up and packing away tables, tablecloths and place settings
  • Warmly greet guests as they arrive and assist them with seating
  • Take guests’ alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverage orders, utilizing suggestive selling techniques when specified on function requirements
  • Be familiar with all hotel services, features, local attractions and activities to respond to guest inquiries accurately and promptly
  • Clean the meeting/banquet room(s) when not in use. When filling the role of Banquet Porter/Server, you will vacuum the carpets, spot clean walls, wipe down chairs and dust all areas of the room(s).
  • Communicate any areas of need, problems, and concerns from guests to the immediate manager or supervisor.
  • Monitor and maintain cleanliness, sanitation, and organization of assigned station and service areas.
  • Maintain high standards of safety and cleanliness in all areas of the meeting/banquet room(s).
  • Adhere to grooming and appearance standards, and the personal hygiene policy of the hotel consistently
  • May be required to perform other job-related assignments as requested by the immediate manager or supervisor
