Job Description

QUALIFICATIONS

  • A minimum of one-year experience (in the last five years) in a similar environment or 1 year experience (in the last five years) as a Server in an upscale or high volume establishment that clearly demonstrates the skills required for plate service
  • “Serving It Right” and “Food Safe” certificates
  • Fluency in the English language, both written and verbal
  • Thorough knowledge of wines, cocktails and menu terminology
  • Team player with proven success in relationship building
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • A high level of responsibility and commitment
  • Ability to thrive in a fast paced environment that demands independent decision-making
  • Polished demeanour, Impeccable grooming and presentation

    Physical Aspects of Position (include but are not limited to): The position of Event Server is physically demanding. The successful applicant must be physically capable of standing and walking for long periods of time, as well as lifting and carrying a full tray long distances.

Responsibilities:

  • Follow proper sequence of service and standards for function type (breakfast, lunch, dinner, cocktail) and style (plated, butler, buffet, French)
  • Interact clearly, courteously, professionally and closely with guests, colleagues and management team to ensure guests receive excellent guest service
  • React to additional guest requests in a positive, professional and timely manner
  • Set function tables: polish cutlery, check glassware, place tableware to an accurate and consistent standard prior to guest arrival
  • Organize station for food service and serve food and beverage
  • Greet and seat guests upon their arrival
  • Understand menu and banquet event details prior to function and answer questions about food and beverage as required
  • Follow proper cleaning standards and debussing procedures
  • Ensure equipment is returned to appropriate storage, laundry and kitchen locations
  • Maintain tidy, clean, safe workspace and equipment
  • Other duties assigned
