Job Description:
The Bar and Restaurant Manager will oversee daily operations, manage staff, and ensure that guests have an exceptional experience. The ideal candidate will have strong leadership skills, experience in hospitality management, and a deep understanding of both food and beverage service. This role requires a proactive, customer-oriented individual who can handle all aspects of running a successful bar and restaurant.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee all operations of the bar and restaurant, ensuring efficient and high-quality service.
- Lead and manage the team, including hiring, training, scheduling, and performance management.
- Maintain excellent customer service standards and ensure guest satisfaction.
- Develop and implement strategies to increase revenue and optimize profitability.
- Monitor inventory levels and place orders to ensure timely stock replenishment for the bar and kitchen.
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, and hygiene standards.
- Handle customer complaints and resolve any issues in a professional manner.
- Oversee cash management and daily financial reporting.
- Coordinate with kitchen staff to ensure timely and accurate food service.
- Create and update menus in collaboration with chefs, and ensure the bar offers a diverse beverage selection.
- Manage marketing initiatives to attract customers and promote events.
Qualifications and Experience:
- NZQF Level 4 qualification or at least 3 years of relevant experience.
- A manager’s certificate is required.
- Strong knowledge of the hospitality industry, including bar and food service operations.
- Fluent in English with strong communication skills. Experience with slot machine operations is a bonus.
- Excellent leadership and people management skills.
- Strong financial acumen, with the ability to manage budgets and increase profitability.
- Knowledge of health, safety, and hygiene regulations.
- Exceptional communication and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and manage a fast-paced environment.
