Description:
The aim of the Max Planck Institute for Sustainable Materials (earlier known as Max Planck Institute for Iron Research) is to understand nanostructured materials down to their atomic and electrical level and to develop new ones. With this in mind, we conduct basic research on structural and functional materials. We examine their synthesis and processing, characterization and properties as well as their reaction in technical components under real environmental conditions. Our research is highly interdisciplinary, with intensive collaboration between experimentalists and theorists as well as between different groups and departments.
Responsibilities:
- Managing of the battery laboratory within the institute which includes the management of gloveboxes, potentiostats, furnaces, and sputter deposition chamber.
- Assisting new students in showing the battery assembly, potentiostats, glovebox, furnace and sputter deposition etc.
- Chemical and Waste management of the hazardous substances needed/ produced during the battery preparation.
- Ordering of chemicals, consumables, and equipment for the battery group.
- Preparation of technical specifications for the purchase orders of “Großgeräte”.
- Assistance in mechanical testing, organisation of mechanical-technological tests as well as documentation and evaluation
- Assistance in metallography, including sample preparation, macroscopic and microscopic analysis and documentation. Knowledge of scanning electron microscopy for sample analysis
