Description:
REQUIREMENTS
- Exclusive US citizenship is required
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance is required
- BS (MS or PhD desired) in engineering or equivalent from an accredited university is required
- Minimum 5 years industry experience with battery cell and/or pack development
- Able to work in a dry-room
Qualified Candidates will be able to support several (not necessarily all) of the following:
- Manage, lead, and contribute to power and energy projects from conceptual design (i.e. preliminary designs, new cell chemistry, pack designs, etc.) through prototype demonstration.
- Operate as principal investigator (PI) on power and energy programs.
- Perform appropriate analysis and oversight of engineering tasks including: cell design and chemistry, electrolyte formulation, cell builds, battery pack design, and battery management systems (BMS).
- Perform trade studies on systems and components supporting advanced concepts and platforms.
- Present detailed data and design recommendations based on findings and prepare reports, presentations, drawings, and other engineering data.
- Comply with deadlines set by program or divisional leadership.
- Understand and analyze cell and battery pack characteristics, testing, and integration.
- Effectively collaborate with internal stakeholders to gather requirements and troubleshoot issues with cells.
- Identify and implement strategies for achieving cell and pack objectives, requirements and certifications.
- Interface with customer and government point of contacts.
- Support the pursuit of new business opportunities through proposal writing, opportunity identification and participation in meeting
Responsibilities:
The Battery Project Manager will work collaboratively in teams of: scientists (chemists, physicists, computer, etc.); engineers (mechanical, electrical, aerospace, chemical, materials, software, computer, etc.); technical leaders (both internal and external); business leaders (strategic, sales, marketing, finance, etc.); and, customers (both internal and external.) The Battery Project Engineer will contribute to the team to advance a cell and/or battery pack from concept through detailed design, testing, and delivery. They will advance the development and integration of the system to deliver solutions that solve customer’s challenges. The engineer is expected to execute technical work in their field of specialization or expertise and is expected to have an awareness of the best practices, standards, or methods in their technical field and to complete technical tasks according to the expectations and objectives of divisional and program leadership.
