Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) is seeking Mid-Level, Senior and/or Lead Systems Engineers to join its Mobility, Surveillance, and Bombers (MS&B) and BDS Mission Assurance team in Oklahoma City, OK as a Mission Assurance Leader. Oklahoma City has a strong and growing portfolio of legendary US and international aircraft such as Air Force One, E-4B, C-32, C-40, B-1, B-2, B-52, E-3 AWACS, E-7 AEW&C, KC-135, KC-10, with more platforms coming. We are a growing Mission Assurance team that is not confined to the programs within Oklahoma City. We also support programs across the enterprise in Seattle, St. Louis, Philadelphia, Mesa, Southern California, Huntsville Alabama, and many other sites across BDS. This includes platforms such as P-8, KC-46, T-7, F-18, F-15, V-22, AH-64, CH-46, and MQ-25. Essentially, all the programs across Vertical Lift, Fighters, Commercial Derivatives, Autonomous Systems, Space and Launch, and Missiles and Weapons.
This role features an ability to grow your network while working with BDS level leadership, program chief engineers, program managers, and other functional leaders. This is an interesting and exciting opportunity to work with an experienced team of leaders and professionals at a quickly growing site.

This role will focus on building trust through purposeful collaboration to proactively reduce risk across the product life cycle. As a Mission Assurance Leader, the candidate will be asked to:

  • Support critical issues that impact the technical integrity of the program
  • Help the program ensure technical success by reviewing program progress and development from the big picture perspective
  • Conduct program Mission Assurance Independent Reviews (MAIRs/TIRs), Flight and Test Mission Assurance Readiness Reviews (F/TMARRs), assess program health, and provide best-practice guidance to assure program success

The Mission Assurance Leader will also be responsible for leading and staffing BDS eRCCAs (Enterprise Root Cause Corrective Action) with the potential to become a Boeing Designated Expert (BDE).
A successful candidate will have a diverse aircraft design, operation, and program or project experience, and the drive to accomplish great things on an awesome team. You will have the opportunity to use that experience to coach, mentor, and develop the SEIT and program leaders on some of BDS and AMMs largest portfolios.
As a Mission Assurance Leader, you will get to experience the whole of what BDS has to offer. Acting as a major contributor to program success while supporting several aircraft platforms and architectures. You will gain both product and program knowledge depth and breadth.
The qualified candidate must be able to work independently with program chief engineers and have a broad range of experience in aircraft modification. They must be detail oriented, objective, skilled in mentoring/coaching role, have excellent people and facilitation skills, and have the ability to evaluate program adherence to process and support/serve them where needed.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS (REQUIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE):

  • Bachelor, Master’s or Doctorate degree from an accredited university/course of study
  • At least 5 Years of aerospace job experience

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS (DESIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE):

  • 9 or more years related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 14 or more years related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Aerospace Engineering experience
  • Mechanical Engineering experience
  • Electrical/Electronic Engineering experience
  • Software Engineering experience
  • Systems Engineering experience
  • Systems Safety and/or Product Design Engineering experience

TYPICAL EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

Mid-Level (Level 3): Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 5 or more years’ related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD, Master+3 years’ related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
Senior (Level 4): Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 9 or more years’ related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+4 years’ related work experience, Master+7 years’ related work experience, 13 years’ related work experience, etc.).
Lead (Level 5): Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 14 or more years’ related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+9 years’ related work experience, Master+12 years’ related work experience, 18 years’ related work experience, etc.).

Responsibilities:

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Chair, coordinate, and help staff Technical Independent Reviews / Non-Advocate Reviews for program milestones (i.e. (ESGP) Enterprise Standard Gated Process) to assure program success
  • Be a resource, coach, and mentor to engineering project leaders by coming alongside them to help them be successful
  • Develop, coordinate, and chair FTMARRs
  • Manage, Staff, and/or lead eRCCAs across BDS
  • Develop and conduct Mission Assurance training
  • Develop and provide Mission Assurance health metrics
