Description:

Title: Before & After School Program Educator
The BAP Program Educator works with children ages 4 to 12 (Pre-Primary to Grade 6) in an afterschool setting. The BAP Program Educator, alongside the Team Lead/Director, is responsible for the development and implementation of quality programming and services with the BAP program. The program focuses on outdoor play, physical activity, physical literacy, and inclusion. A background in recreation and/or experience working with children is required.

Responsibilities:

i. Develop, implement, and evaluate structured, recreational based activities;
ii. Complete daily attendance sheets;
iii. Report incidents and accidents through established forms and procedures;
iv. Actively participate in the development and implementation of the program plan;
v. Supervise students to ensure a safe environment;
vi. Assist students with personal care and hygiene;
vii. Assist students getting ready for and participate in outside play and/or activities
viii. Lead outside play and/or activities;
ix. General clean-up at completion of program time (not to interfere with or replace custodial tasks);
x. Facilitate positive interactions among the students;
xi. May be required to administer medication under standard NS-BAP procedures at the direction of the Program Team Leads/Directors;
xii. Provide feedback on his/her observations of students to the Program Team Leads/Directors and/or parent/guardian;
xiii. Address parent inquiries;
xiv. Attend and participate in staff meetings and training sessions as required;
xv. Distribution of NS-BAP Program literature as required.
Start Date: ASAP - January 2024
Hours of Work: Monday to Friday 6:45am -8am & 2:00-6:00 pm. We are looking for employees who are available to work a split shift (both AM & PM), or employees who can work only mornings, only afternoons, or a combination of both. Schedule to be determined at the time of hire based on availability of the employee.
Additional hours to be scheduled by employer in advance for purposes of monthly staff meetings, required training, and programming planning and preparation. There will be no BAP program offered on PD days, March Break, Christmas vacation, and summer. In the event of school closure for snow days, power outages, and other issues the employee will be paid for their scheduled shift.
