Description:

As a Behaviour Interventionist (BI) at Monarch House your primary responsibility is implementing programs designed and supervised by a senior clinical team (of speech pathologists, by a Board-Certified Behavior Analyst® BCBAs, Occupational therapists and physical therapists) to clients receiving services from Monarch House. You will work within an interdisciplinary team to support skill acquisition and/or decrease maladaptive behaviors while providing an engaging and positive client experience in a fast paced and frequently changing environment.
Job Type: Part-time, 18 hours/week
Salary: $21-23/hr
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum 1 year experience working in client homes is a plus
- Enrollment in or degree from a post-secondary program of Psychology, Educational Psychology, Special Education or another related field is an asset
- Autism Spectrum Disorder specific coursework, training or workshops an asset
- Experience working with clients who have a diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorder or other developmental disabilities
Responsibilities:
- Responsible for implementing programs based on best practices.
- Uses systematic methods and behavioural strategies to support client in changing their behaviour
- Contributes to the development of programs established by the clinical team to teach and reinforce a variety of skills for children and youth in a 1:1 and/or small group setting
- Understand the functions of behavior and responds appropriately and safely when situations arise
- Adhere to all clinical training, procedures, and protocols
- Ability to adapt to changing conditions and/or routine and provide creative solutions
- Responsible for creating a positive and engaging environment for the client
- Support clients with personal care tasks such as dressing, toileting, and eating
- Responsible for maintaining the well-being and safety
